Gamma Tau VP of Alumni Relations Page

Brothers,

Let me take the pleasure of welcoming you to the Gamma Tau Chapter of Phi Kappa Tau here at Old Dominion University! The men at Gamma Tau are very excited to become a part of Phi Kappa Tau, and we want to share this enthusiasm with you! Alumni support is openly welcomed and appreciated here with a general philosophy of “the more the merrier.” Below are just a few of the reasons we would like to see you, as one of our Phi Tau alumni, come out to help support the brothers of Gamma Tau and maybe have a little fun in the process.

Alumni involvement makes the undergraduates of the chapter fully understand the importance that Phi Kappa Tau plays in the life of all of its members. Your involvement helps build a sense of pride and commitment in our brothers that cannot occur without your involvement. When a graduate member comes involved in the chapter, the chapter has received a new brother.

The undergraduates of Gamma Tau are excited and accepting of our heritage on campus and want to know more about the 1960’s-70’s! Ever since the Colony started a few years ago, we were told about Butch the Buzzard and we haven’t let it go. That one piece of our history is so big, that we named the Alumni Newsletter “The Buzzard.” Look out for The Buzzard as it flies to a house near you!

To all our alumni brothers from other chapters of Phi Tau, we respectfully request your consideration of becoming involved in our chapter that we ever grow as men of character through your guidance and commitment to Phi Kappa Tau.

Here at Gamma Tau we recognize that brotherhood doesn’t stop at the undergraduate level and are excited to share our brotherhood with you. Who else is going to give the undergraduates the most support than their very own alumni? In fact the alumni base is clearly the larger of the two categories of membership and as we look to the future it is important to recognize that a strong alumni relations program is essential for a strong and healthy chapter. Some things that you should look for in the upcoming year is a Gamma Tau Chapter Board of Governors with more than five members, the development of a Housing Corporation for the chapter, as well as an active and exciting Graduate Council that will be planning events for the alumni in the area.

We have bound ourselves together in a brotherhood that spans the nation with more than 90,000 brothers. Every brother, graduate or undergraduate, shares in the success and accomplishments of our chapter. Your role in our chapter is just as important as any of the brothers, providing support that is priceless and which can spread throughout the chapter to help foster an atmosphere of unstoppable unity. No matter your alma mater you have found a home here at Gamma Tau.
